My business Nikki’s Portraits of Childhood has been in operation now for 24 years and although I am based in Regina, collectors span Western Canada and into the U.S. I have many repeat private collectors who own as many as 5-6 of my originals. I am very blessed to have their support and to have developed friendships with many of these folks through my business. I also have a line of limited edition reproductions that can be viewed on my site. Several are now sold out and many others are within 1-5 copies of being sold out.
In 2015 I began teaching workshops for the Art Gallery of Regina and classes for the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre. My most recent solo show was held at the Art Gallery of Regina’s Outside the Box venue and featured my landscapes on copper. I have also exhibited at the University of Regina Faculty Club twice, Government House, the Joe Moran, the Assiniboia Galleries in Regina and Saskatoon and the Dunlop Branch Galleries in Regina. I am also a regular exhibitor at the Regina Spring Home Show and many others.
In recent years I expanded my business Nikki’s Portraits of Childhood to include art instruction and painting holidays. In 2013 and 2015 I led a group of artists to paint Plein air in Paris and the South West of France then on to Cuba in February 2016 and 2017. My next group painting excursion is planned for January 11-25, 2019 in The Mid-Winter Cuban Salsa Dance and Paint Holiday. I love the outdoors, painting Plein air and have spent time working in the Moose Mountain Artists’ Colony in 2012-2018. I was also a Guest Artist in Residence for 3 years at Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan through a Creative Partnerships Grant with Saskatchewan Parks and The Friends of Cypress Hills Inc., funded by the Saskatchewan Arts Board and Saskatchewan Lotteries. There I designed and provided arts programming to visitors to the park and conducted open studio times while working on my art practice. I was also a successful applicant juried to participate in the 2013-2014 CARFAC Mentorship Program funded through the Saskatchewan Arts Board and was pleased to be mentored by artist Iris Hauser. I also served as a juror in 2015 on the mentorship selection committee.
2018 was a very exciting year, as I was honoured to receive the Jacquie Schumiatcher; YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in the Arts. I was a Guest Artist in Residence once again at the Johnson Cultural Centre in Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan.
My next Plein air group tour is February 13 to the 27th, 2019 in Cuba.
My artwork is represented by The Broken Spoke Art Gallery in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.
Studio visits may be arranged by appointment.
